Location: Baker Publishing Group, Ada, MI, On-site
Baker Publishing Group is accepting applications for an intern for the Publicity Department, Non-Fiction. This position is up to 20 weeks in length, with a commitment of 20 hours per week.
The Publicity department works to expand visibility for our authors and titles by cultivating relationships with media, securing coverage, and connecting books with the readers who need them most.
The internship will focus on the publicity aspects of publishing while providing exposure to marketing, editorial, design, production, and sales as well.
Application Process
The application process requires a resume and a cover letter, outlining:
Why you are interested in working in publishing
What excites you about the publishing/publicity industry
Your observations on the current media landscape (including television, radio, podcasts, print, and/or online) and how it has impacted book trends and book buying
- What you hope to learn from this internship
Responsibilities
Capture and record media hits as needed
- Assist in maintaining and updating the team's database of key media contacts
Create publicity templates and upload documents to Share Point
Assist in creating press materials using Canva
- Research media outlet coverage of comparable titles to inform pitch strategies for upcoming releases
Assist in scheduling and coordinating author/media interviews
Attend all-staff meetings, publicity meetings, and joint marketing and publicity meetings
Provide overall general support for the publicity team
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be ready to begin in May 2026 (we will work around school schedule)
At least two years of college completed, majoring in Communications or a related field
- A passion for Christian publishing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to multitask
Ability to work well with others
- Must be over the age of 18
Compensation and Benefits
This is a paid internship. Academic credit can be provided by an intern's accredited institution, if desired.
