Accounting Specialist – Production Accounting and Inventory

The Accounting Specialist will report to the Assistant Controller.

This position’s main responsibility is to assist in the day-to-day accounting duties of the JBS USA – Plainwell plant in regards to the daily and weekly profit and loss statements, inventory reconciliations, financials, and other duties. This position also requires interface with the JBS – Plainwell Slaughter, Barn, Hide, Fabrication and Accounting departments.

• Daily and weekly Production and P&L reports
• Review variances of weekly vs. daily P&L’s
• General ledger reporting and research (relevant systems including but not limited to SAP)
• Provide other clerical support necessary to pay the financial obligations of the plant.
• All other duties as assigned

• High School Diploma/GED
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel
• SAP experience
• Multisystem focused
• 3-5 years of experience in Accounts Payable or related field
• Flexibility and Interpersonal skills required

Plainwell is the only JBS plant with Modified Atmospheric Packaging (MAP), a packaging process that changes oxygen levels to extend shelf-life. The MAP process is a part of the Plainwell ground beef operation. Plainwell is also one of the few plants that produces ground beef patties. Over one million lbs (450,000 kg) of beef are produced each day. The Plainwell facility produces biogas in an anaerobic lagoon and uses it in place of natural gas to heat a portion of the water used in the plant.

The facility was recognized by the American Meat Institute as a Tier 3 facility for its accomplishments with ISO 14001. Plainwell recently built a $31 million distribution center (85,000 ft²) with a 55,000 box capacity.
