Overview
Make your mark on a community that desperately needs good access to basic veterinary care. Michiana Humane Society is on the brink of big things. We will be doubling our square footage and beginning to offer services to the public. It’s an exciting time!
We seek a talented, experienced, creative veterinarian, licensed (or currently able to be) in Indiana, to oversee the general healthcare of 900-1000 shelter animals each year, including wellness care, treatment of illnesses, wound care and neglect. Spay/neuter surgeries including dogs and cats as young as 2-3 months, per Indiana State law. Bring your experience and help guide our organization in expanding services to the community, too, as we work on plans for a new building.
Team& Environment
Our staff team includes a full-time, experienced RVT and 7 kennel techs who care deeply about the animals and love to learn. We also have a trained behavior coordinator to work with you. And as the area’s most active shelter, we have a great volunteer program that includes talented people to support our veterinary work.
Location & PerksAt MHS you will enjoy a flexible schedule, and when you’re not working, we are ten minutes from amazing Lake Michigan beaches, twenty from Harbor Country’s wineries and distilleries, and just 75 minutes from downtown Chicago. We are able to offer competitive wages thanks to an endowment left by a forward thinking supporter.
