Overview

The Junior Estimator is to assist the Preconstruction Team by preparing estimates for projects. The Junior Estimator will assist in the completion estimates, help collect data, perform research, and ensure that necessary information for project bids is organized and accessible. The Junior Estimator will be held responsible for all aspects related to his or her assignments.

Experience/Education/Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful drug, alcohol, MVR and background checks
  • Willing to accept responsibility to acquire specialized training

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word and Excel
  • Develop knowledge of Company software: (iSqFt), Estimating (Win Est), Takeoff (Blue Beam/OST), Scheduling (ASTA) and Invitation to Bid/Project Management (Pro Core) and other 3D Model Based Takeoff and Estimating
  • Excellent math, verbal, written, communication and computer skills
  • Must be able to support company policies and initiatives
Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assist the Preconstruction Team in preparing estimates, proposals, RFP responses and etc., for all project delivery methods.
  • Provide support in gathering pricing data for materials, labor, and equipment from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Assist with the preparation of cost estimates by compiling information such as labor rates, material costs, and subcontractor quotes
  • Organize and maintain estimates, bid documents, and other relevant files
  • Ensure all documentation is up to date, complete, and accessible for the Preconstruction Team
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to obtain pricing for various project needs
  • Help prepare bid packages by assembling all required documentation, estimates, and proposal materials
  • Support communication between the Preconstruction Team, Project Managers, subcontractors, and supplies
  • Coordinate meetings to ensure all relevant parties have the necessary project information
  • Answers calls and respond to emails related to project inquiries
  • Prepare reports and presentation materials as requested by the Preconstruction Team
  • Assist the Preconstruction Team in competitively procuring vendor proposals
  • Assist the Preconstruction Team with managing projects on a daily basis including (but not limited to):
  • Document control
  • Bid management (preparation of bidders list,bid solicitations, document control, bid coverage expedition and tracking)
  • Quantity surveys for all trades
  • Quantity surveys and estimates for self-performed trades
  • Cost analysis
  • Cost history tracking
  • Coordinate with preconstruction team all RFI’s. Ensure that all field RFI’s have been properly entered in the PM software. Review the RFI log to ensure that all open items are resolved on a timely basis.
  • Assist Preconstruction Manager in the completion of project cost history
  • Attend all required company meetings
  • Represent the company in a professional manner
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Support the company’s safety policy
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and client information
