Floor Helper

Essential Requirements:

• Stage and prep substrates for jobs at the assigned presses to accommodate the work schedule.
• Obtains make-ready waste as needed prior to the job make-ready.
• Keeps blanket wash, roller wash and other chemicals needed at the press.
• Maintains an adequate supply of rags at the press.
• Assists the Pressman during make-ready and run as directed by Pressman.
• Assists on wash-up of the press per the Pressman's direction.
• Performs preventative maintenance on the press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts cleaning, replacing and setting roller adjustments and other items as required.
• Assists in clean up and in keeping the immediate work areas around the press neat and organized.
• Builds loads as required by Pressman or Shift Supervisor.
• Works paper as required for second pass work or feeding difficulties.
• Airs up printed stock as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
• Reads Material Safety Data Sheets and exercises proper handling and disposal of chemicals.
• Must work safely following all safety rules and regulations.
• Place all incoming pressroom supplies in their appropriate locations in a timely manner.
• Learn the Feeder position to be prepared to move up to the Feeder position when needed.
• Performs other tasks as required by management.

Personal Position Attributes:

• Must be a self
  -motivator and a team participant also, an excellent communicator, both verbally and written.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma; G.E.D. or Vocational/Technical degree or equivalent experience in printing operations. Must be able to pass a color blindness evaluation. Good mechanical understanding of presses and auxiliary equipment is helpful.
