Senior Environmental Compliance Project Manager/Consultant

Patriot Engineering and Environmental, Inc. is an employee‑owned, diverse engineering firm with multi‑state presence providing geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing services and consultation to commercial, industrial, and governmental clients. We are looking for a senior Environmental Compliance Project Manager/Consultant to join our talented team in our Dayton, OH office.

Career Opportunity

This role will be part of a skilled team that works closely with the Regional Environmental Group Manager and other technical leads to lead, manage, and perform environmental compliance services. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, flexible, personable, and has an eye for detail.

Responsibilities
  • Execute underground storage tank closures and petroleum release investigations in Ohio (Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations) and/or Kentucky (Kentucky Underground Storage Tank Branch guidelines), including knowledge of state petroleum release insurance fund guidelines.
  • Implement Ohio EPA Voluntary Action Program (VAP) regulations; evaluate projects through historical document and record review, develop scope, and prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Lead projects independently, ensuring completion within budget and scope.
  • Produce and review technical reports and documents; proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Mentor and advise junior staff.
  • Adapt to tasks outside normal scope to support office and company success.
  • Participate in business development and professional organizations.
  • Maintain a client‑focused, service‑oriented attitude to address operational, remediation, and development challenges.
  • Build, sustain, and mentor a high‑performing team focused on professional acumen, client service, and QA/QC.
Qualifications Required
  • Registered/Licensed geologist/engineer with 10‑15 years of experience, current license in Ohio, Kentucky and/or Indiana, or the ability to obtain a license in one of those states within six months.
  • HAZWOPER 40 certification.
  • Experience identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Independent decision‑making and leadership capability; collaborative with project teams.
  • Strong technical writing, data management, organizational, and communication skills.
