About the Role:
The Air Freight Coordinator plays a critical role in managing and optimizing the shipment of goods via air transportation within the United States and internationally. This position ensures timely and efficient coordination between shippers, carriers, and customs authorities to facilitate smooth air freight operations. The coordinator is responsible for tracking shipments, resolving logistical issues, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
By effectively managing schedules, documentation, and communication, the Air Freight Coordinator helps minimize delays and costs while maximizing customer satisfaction. Ultimately, this role supports the overall supply chain by ensuring that air freight shipments are executed accurately and efficiently from origin to destination.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in freight coordination, logistics, or transportation, with a focus on air freight preferred.
- Strong knowledge of air freight operations, documentation, and regulatory requirements within the United States.
- Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with international air freight shipments and customs clearance processes.
- Familiarity with Incoterms and global trade compliance standards.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations).
- Ability to analyze freight costs and negotiate with carriers to optimize shipping expenses.
- Experience with ERP systems integration and data analysis tools.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule air freight shipments with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to meet delivery deadlines.
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, including air waybills, customs paperwork, and compliance forms to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherence.
- Monitor shipment status and proactively address any delays, disruptions, or issues by communicating with relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with customs brokers and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth customs clearance and compliance with import/export regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of shipments, costs, and carrier performance to support reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
