Overview
Enforces regulations and protects life at a City pool. Patrols and observes swimming pool area to ensure appropriate use by patrons. Rescues patrons in distress as needed. Answers inquiries from patrons. Performs custodial and/or janitorial tasks to maintain a clean facility area. Assists in equipment maintenance activities. May collect and account for fees received from patrons. Administers Standard First Aid and/or CPR as needed.
Performs related work as required.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at time of application. The following valid certificates and/or wallet card(s) must be possessed at time of application and maintained valid throughout employment:
Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer issued by the American Red Cross or other nationally recognized certifying agency. Must be able to pass the City of Miami s performance test, which may include swimming, running, and simulated rescue exercises.
Note: Employees in this classification will be required to work various shifts, to include nights, holidays and weekends. Candidates will be subject to a Level II background screening.

- Rescue patrons in distress as needed and respond to inquiries from patrons.
- Maintain a clean facility area through custodial/janitorial tasks.
- Assist in equipment maintenance activities.
- May collect and account for fees received from patrons.
- Administer Standard First Aid and/or CPR as required.
- Perform related work as required.
- At least 16 years of age at time of application.
- Valid Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (issued by the American Red Cross or other nationally recognized certifying agency) and maintained valid through employment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Pass City of Miami performance test (may include swimming, running, and simulated rescue exercises).
- Ability to pass a Level II background screening.
- Must be available to work various shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends.
- Proof of Age:
Birth certificate, state /driver license, naturalization certificate, or valid U.S. passport. - Proof of Valid Lifeguard Certificates:
Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. - All certifications must be valid and will be verified. Certifications must be issued by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or another nationally recognized certifying agency and kept current throughout employment.
- All documents must be uploaded and attached to the employment application prior to submission. Incomplete submissions may render an applicant ineligible.
