The Application Developer III serves as part of the System Support and Development Team to create complex custom programming code using PHP and SQL for new homegrown applications and for enhancing prebuilt commercial applications. Creates automation and monitoring scripts to reduce manual workload and to improve system reliability and provides recommendations for improving efficiency and performance.
- Works as part of the System Support and Development Team to ensure total product quality and integration.
- Coordinates with Product Owners, System Administrators, and operational teams to ensure the system/application can be deployed and supported in a production environment.
- Defines, designs, and implements complex web based applications using but not limited to PHP, SQL and JavaScript.
- Uses Industry Standards to develop applications that interact with third party systems.
- Trains the System Support and Development Team on the use of any new technologies.
- Conducts testing and troubleshooting of applications to meet quality standards.
- Delivers software development projects on schedule and with high quality.
- Serves as a lead developer collaborating alongside the Learning Management System Team on the planning, documenting, developing, and implementing of projects and software integration tools.
- Works with stakeholders and clients (internal and external) to understand software requirements and ensure applications are developed and expectations are met.
- Oversees the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for assigned projects. This includes documentation, recommendations for improvements, and implementations.
- Ensures that proper backups are being performed, so that all previously mentioned systems can be recovered.
- Serves as a lead developer for projects, responsible for planning and implementing tasks for product completion.
- Plans and coordinates testing of applications and processes to ensure the desired results were achieved. This involves creating baselines, documenting testing, and recording outcomes throughout different iterations for each individual part or unit of the application or project.
- Schedules software security audits to prevent system vulnerabilities.
- Performs peer code review to ensure highest level of efficiency throughout all custom-developed applications.
- Serves as Senior PHP programmer to lead developers in supporting production and development application environments.
- Monitors, recommends, and implements new and improved applications, features, procedures, and technologies.
- Assists the SSD team in executing the efforts for system upgrades and maintenance as required by the unit.
Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Studies, or other technical discipline and five (5) years related experience; OR nine (9) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications- Experience using Laravel.
- Experience using VUE.
- Experience with Salesforce Integration.
- Experience with LMS and LTI Integrations.
- Experience using Amazon Web Services.
