The Professional Counselor (PC) is part of a multidisciplinary team providing support, referrals, and resources to survivors of human trafficking. Under the direction of the Residential Manager, the PC is responsible for facilitating survivor care through needs assessments, goal setting, and service linkage for any mental health needs. The PC works directly with the Her Song team to ensure all services are trauma‑informed, trauma‑responsive, post‑traumatic growth‑focused, empowerment‑driven, and strengths‑based.

The PC will have experience and demonstrable skills in using evidence‑based practices to effectively counsel persons with histories of trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, and co‑occurring disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Completes intakes, assessments, screenings, and histories to establish baseline of mental health care for all residential .
  • Creates and manages treatment plans for each client.
  • Oversees and stewards the mental health and wellbeing of all clients through regularly scheduled counseling sessions.
  • Provides impromptu counseling, crisis intervention and de‑escalation, as needed.
  • Assists clients in moving from deficit focus to cultivating and utilizing strengths and resilience in the face of challenges.
  • Leads trainings on a weekly basis with clients; leads trauma‑informed trainings for staff.
  • Participates in on‑call rotation for residential program.
  • Actively participates on a multidisciplinary team and provides guidance and support to the team in decision‑making.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Master's in counseling or social work from an accredited college.
  • Holds or working towards an LPC license and a minimum of 2 years of experience in individual and group counseling with traumatized individuals/abuse, substance abuse, victims of crime, women in crisis, at‑risk youth, domestic violence or similar population.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Skilled in leading effective counseling groups and staff training.
  • Leader with trauma responsive programming.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly trainable and flexible.
