Project Focus: Leadership of multi‑electrician crews installing and commissioning Amazon’s automated conveyor, robotics, and MHE systems across U.S. fulfillment centers.
Role Summary
The Lead Industrial Electrical Supervisor is the operational commander of on‑site electrical installation teams. This leader directs multiple crews responsible for the electrical fit‑out of Amazon’s Material Handling Equipment (MHE), ensuring safe, high‑quality, on‑schedule delivery of conveyor, robotics, and automation systems. They are the point person for coordination with Amazon, the General Contractor, automation vendors, and safety teams.
This role requires a hands‑on leader who can build, manage, and motivate traveling industrial electrician teams while maintaining strict adherence to NEC, site standards, and Amazon‑specific protocols.
- Recruit, assemble, and manage teams of journeyman and apprentice electricians for national Amazon projects.
- Assign daily tasks, set productivity expectations, and ensure crews hit installation milestones.
- Train electricians on Amazon‑specific systems, safety rules, and commissioning workflows.
- Maintain a high‑performance culture with accountability, coaching, and conflict resolution.
Project Execution & Oversight
- Oversee installation of cable trays, secondary steel, conduit runs, and all MHE electrical infrastructure.
- Supervise wiring and termination of 480V 3‑phase motors, VFDs, MCCs, and 24
VDC control circuits. - Ensure correct installation of E‑Stops, photo-eyes, scanners, sensors, and safety circuits.
- Coordinate with automation engineers during power‑up, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Validate work against electrical schematics, P&IDs, and Amazon engineering drawings.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce NEC, OSHA, and Amazon safety standards with zero‑tolerance compliance.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and lockout/tagout enforcement.
- Ensure all team members maintain valid MEWP/scissor lift certifications.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the primary on‑site electrical lead for Amazon, the GC, and automation vendors.
- Attend daily coordination meetings, report progress, and escalate risks proactively.
- Communicate manpower needs, schedule impacts, and material requirements.
Quality Control & Documentation
- Perform inspections, verify terminations, and sign off on completed electrical work.
- Maintain redlines, as‑builts, and commissioning documentation.
- Ensure all installations meet Amazon’s high‑speed automation reliability standards.
Technical Requirements
- 6–10+ years industrial electrical experience; 2–5 years in a supervisory/foreman role.
- Strong background in 480
VAC motor circuits, low‑voltage controls, and automation wiring. - Proven experience on conveyor, distribution center, or robotics installation projects.
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Journeyman License strongly preferred;
Master Electrician is a major advantage. - MEWP/Scissor Lift certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.
