Rough structural carpenter

Job Description

• Structural framing: Build the skeletal structure of buildings, including walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs, using various materials.
• Blueprint interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and plans to determine layouts, dimensions, and materials needed.
• Material preparation: Measure, cut, and prepare lumber and other materials according to specifications.
• Assembly: Assemble and install structural components, such as floor joists, studs, and beams, using hand and power tools.
• Concrete forms: Construct and install forms for pouring concrete.
• Scaffolding and supports: Erect scaffolding, temporary shelters, and other support structures as needed.
• Quality and safety: Ensure the structural integrity of the work by verifying that it is level, plumb, and secure; inspect for damage or defects; and follow all jobsite safety regulations.
• Site management: Transport materials, maintain tool inventory, and assist in coordinating with other trades and subcontractors.

Required skills and qualifications

• Proficiency in using hand and power tools (saws, drills, nail guns, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
• Strong understanding of basic math for measurements and layouts.
• Physical strength and stamina to lift, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Experience with rough carpentry techniques and materials.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety standards.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A valid driver's license is often required for reliable transportation to job sites.
• Ability to provide own basic hand tools is frequently a requirement.
