Job Summary

Field Service Technician – Firestop installs approved firestop and smoke‑stop systems designed to restore the rating of fire/smoke assemblies to compliant construction. These systems are a component of the life safety industry and require following detailed instructions to ensure proper installation.

Work is conducted primarily in hospitals and commercial settings across a variety of indoor and outdoor climates, above‑ceiling grids, and typically in dusty environments. This position is responsible for assessing rated barriers and ensuring quality firestop application in hospitals and commercial buildings.

• Inspect and repair fire/smoke barriers per NFPA/IBC/UL requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints and life safety drawings.
• Document inspection and repair results in an electronic reporting system using a tablet.
• Provide accurate and detailed documentation for customers’ code compliance.
• Document repairs that cannot be completed, obtain and record specifications for materials to be ordered.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing components.
• Install access doors in rated assemblies.
• Hang and repair drywall.
• Install and repair wall assemblies (metal framing and repair if gypsum and masonry construction).
• Load and unload project materials and equipment.
• Complete prep work for all applications.
• Use common hand tools such as hammers, knives, chisels, pliers, screwdrivers, saws, drills, etc.
• Properly maintain equipment and tools.
• Follow safety and infection control guidelines and procedures.
• Ensure a clean job site.
• Maintain professional, timely communication with customers and staff.
• Communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrate effective customer service skills.
• Be self‑motivated, able to work independently and in a team setting.
• Attend required training activities.
• Other duties as assigned (support other service lines).
• Be willing to travel extensively.

• 1+ year of firestop inspection, repair, and installation.
• Commercial drywall repair and installation experience.
• Fire caulking experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of iOS products and electronic reporting.
• Experience with life safety plans and NFPA.
• Hilti and STI certification preferred but not required.

• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; twist, bend, reach. Must be able to climb in above‑ceiling conditions.
• Work in small, tight or confined spaces.
• Work on ladders for extended periods of time.
• Work inside containment units (small tight space).
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Working extended hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends may be required.

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver license.
• Must pass drug screen, criminal background check, and driver’s license check.
• Must be able to travel up to 100% of the time (varies by market).
