Overview

The Sr. Sales Manager is responsible for soliciting and familiarizing themselves with all accounts in their market segments, prospecting, and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues. The role includes daily participation in Highgate Hotel Business Review (HH ) meetings and maintaining an active sales solicitation program.

Responsibilities
  • Attend daily HH  meetings.
  • Develop a full working knowledge of hotel operations (Food & Beverage, Guest Services, Reservations).
  • Understand company sales policies and SOPs; ensure adherence by the sales team.
  • Meet or exceed set sales goals.
  • Operate the Sales Department within the established sales expense budget.
  • Participate in required M.O.D. and Saturday office coverage as scheduled.
  • Initiate and follow up on leads.
  • Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within the market.
  • Regularly contact existing accounts per the Account Coverage Program’s tracing frequencies.
  • Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals set by the Director of Sales.
  • Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours, and site inspections.
  • Assist in implementing special promotions for direct sales segments (parties, sales blitzes, etc.).
  • Prepare required reports promptly.
  • Use the property’s computerized sales management system to manage hotel business (generating reports, entering business, blocking space, building accounts).
  • Conduct professional site inspections of the hotel with clients, highlighting key features and benefits.
  • Entertain clients and handle inquiries as part of the Inquiry Day Program.
  • Maintain active networking through community and professional associations.
  • Review meeting planner evaluations with the Director of Sales to ensure follow‑up.
  • Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST).
  • Meet on‑site contacts and greet guests.
Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of progressive hotel sales experience, or a 4‑year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience, or a 2‑year college degree with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license in the applicable state.
  • Proficient in Windows and company‑approved spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Ability to handle long hours and light physical work (up to 20 lb occasionally, up to 10 lb frequently).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all employee and guest levels.
  • Effective listening and clarifying abilities.
  • Multitasking and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service‑oriented approach to guests and employees.
  • Attendance at all hotel‑required meetings and trainings.
  • Participation in M.O.D. coverage as required.
  • Regular attendance per Highgate Hotel Standards and scheduling.
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming, including nametag compliance.
  • Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards and safety regulations.
  • Maximize productivity, identify problems, and implement solutions.
  • Handle problems proactively, anticipating and solving as needed.
  • Understand and evaluate complex information from various sources.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management.
