Primary Responsibilities

The Account Specialist position is responsible for all aspects of executing the day‑to‑day relationship with the stores in his/her territory/route. Success and compensation are based on the ability to grow sales, increase demos, increase displays, and maintain excellent relationships with all store management and personnel.

Essential Functions
  • Present, sell, and execute all promotional activity at a store or regional level.
  • Develop new product presentations and execute item development plans.
  • Plan item placement and off‑shelf merchandising for all promotional items.
  • Develop strategy for sell‑through of residual products after promotional periods.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility for all business in the assigned territory.
  • Assist in planning and executing all Demonstration Events/Programs.
  • Work with store personnel on event details including products, quantities, locations, education and execution.
  • Assist in planning and executing display programs at store and corporate levels.
  • Assemble end‑caps, side‑caps, kick‑out displays, etc., and determine inventory levels.
  • Monitor “Shelf Edge Management and Store Replenishment” activities to meet timelines.
  • Ensure merchandising execution and order integrity for 100% distribution with minimal out‑of‑stock.
  • Monitor activities for new store sets and Wall‑to‑Wall Resets/Remodels.
  • Coordinate reset activity with the Merchandising Team.
  • Monitor set work for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Execute shelf tag integrity for proper tagging and pricing.
  • Present and complete all store level surveys as required.
  • Provide ongoing product education and expertise to consumers and store personnel, and coordinate educational seminars.
  • Seek continued product knowledge to become a specialty product expert.
  • Identify and communicate new customer opportunities and research needs.
  • Monitor and communicate competitive activities and opportunities.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School diploma required;
    Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of strong sales performance in the grocery industry.
  • 2+ years of experience with specialty food.
  • Demonstrated ability and passion to sell in an incentive‑based environment.
  • True love for sales and a professional mind‑set related to new business development.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekend; required overnight travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Effective communication with people at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to respond to and handle customer complaints promptly.
  • Creative problem‑solving skills.
  • Sense of urgency and attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking ability under time‑conflict pressures.
  • Proactive in pursuing business opportunities without direction.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for personal actions, decisions, and results.
