As a Janitor at RWB Thrift, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of our thrift store. Your responsibilities will include cleaning and sanitizing various areas such as the sales floor, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas. This involves performing tasks like sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down surfaces to uphold high cleanliness standards.

You will also empty trash bins and recycling containers, ensuring proper disposal and separation of waste materials. Additionally, you will retrieve shopping carts or baskets from store entrances or parking areas and return them to designated locations for customer use, contributing to a positive shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize various areas of the thrift store, including the sales floor, restrooms, break rooms, and common areas
  • Perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down surfaces to maintain cleanliness standards
  • Empty trash bins and recycling containers, ensuring proper disposal and separation of waste materials
  • Retrieve shopping carts or baskets from store entrances or parking areas and return them to designated locations for customer use
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all assigned areas throughout the shift
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or customer facing experience is preferred, but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Capability to safely perform job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA and local standards, including meeting quantitative productivity requirements.
  • Physical strength: occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, frequent exertion up to 25 lbs of force, and negligible force when handling objects.
  • Endurance:
    Able to stand for extended periods.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    Proficient in repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction and working primarily with fingers.
  • Fine Motor

    Skills:

    Skilled at tasks that involve seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  • Balance and Agility:
    Capable of maintaining equilibrium to prevent falls on narrow, slippery, or erratic surfaces; capable of balance during agile tasks.
  • Visual Acuity:
    Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
  • Footwear:
    Required to wear closed‑toe shoes for safety.
  • Repetitive Tasks:
    The job involves regular repetitive motions.

  • Atmosphere:
    Dynamic and consistently busy; ability to thrive in fast‑paced environment is essential.
  • Noise Level: Busy sales floor and production area; ability to work effectively in noisy environment is required.

    Bright lighting throughout front and back of store; ability to perform in bright environment is required.
