Job DesignationThe Quality Specialist inspects a range of components, parts and/or products for the assigned area in accordance with applicable specifications and quality assurance instructions. Identifies moderately difficult quality issues in design, process or other inefficiencies to meet quality requirements. Directs work activities for the Quality Inspectors in the inspection of materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
Compiles data and prepares trend charts for management information regarding product quality.
- Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials and components at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards
- Participates in analysis of statistical data from processes to confirm compliance with standards or identify deviations
- Performs visual inspections of soldered connections and mechanical inspections of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies
- Prepares and completes all necessary documentation for reporting acceptance/rejection of inspected and/or tested items
- Identifies design, process or other inefficiencies and reports quality concerns and issues
- Maintains a quality system in accordance with quality regulations and customer requirements
- Fosters the professional growth and development of inspectors through training
- Promotes team collaboration among Production, Quality Assurance and Engineering for corrective actions at product level
- Provides QA product recommendations within specifications, manuals, and company policy
- Compiles charts, graphs and other data on defects and manufacturing operations for QA and management review
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance; may require nights, weekends, or variable schedules as necessary
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Education: Vocational training/High School Diploma or equivalent
Certifications: A&P License or prior Repairman License in Aviation/Aerospace (or equivalent experience in related field)
Years Experience: 2-5 years or more of relevant experience depending on job complexity
Skills- Ability to handle complex or developmental jobs with minimal supervision
- Plan and direct technical efforts to meet Quality Assurance targets
- Apply processes and procedures to resolve complex tasks
- Experience working with engineering drawings, charts, diagrams, and sketches
- Skilled at measuring and using test equipment as prescribed by the job
