General Laborer, T

Responsibilities

• Routine, limited, semi-skilled manual labor in the maintenance of City neighborhoods, grounds and facilities.
• Cut grass and weeds, rake grass and trash.
• Trim, cut down, and remove trees and shrubs.
• Dig and refill ditches, load and unload trucks, condition walls and woodwork prior to painting.
• Conduct animal recovery, pickup, and disposal tasks.
• Perform minor repairs to sewers, septic tanks, catch basins, and manholes.
• Drive a City vehicle not requiring a CDL.
• Wash and steam vehicles, tools, and equipment in the automotive shop.
• Perform emergency duties during City of Miami emergencies (24 hours a day, 7 days a week availability).

• Some (6) months experience in performing unskilled labor.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, occasionally up to 80 lbs.
• Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E). Must possess a State of Florida driver’s license (Class E or higher) prior to appointment and maintain it valid throughout employment.
• Eighth grade education preferred.

• Proof of a valid driver’s license (State of Florida Driver’s License Class E or higher).
• Proof of driving experience or work record described on the application.

• Veterans Preference is awarded in accordance with Florida State Statute 295.07.
• When claiming veteran’s preference, indicate on the application form and submit proper documentation including all DD‑214 (Member 4) forms and the applicable FDVAA Veterans’ Preference Certification Form(s) per rule 55A‑7.013.
• Form VP1: VETERANS' PREFERENCE CERTIFICATE.
• Form VP2: CURRENT MEMBER OF THE RESERVE CERTIFICATION.
• Form VP3: UNMARRIED WIDOW or WIDOWER CERTIFICATE.
