General Laborer, Pt

Overview

This is routine, limited, semi-skilled manual labor maintenance of City neighborhoods, grounds and facilities.

• Cut grass and weeds, rake grass and trash.
• Trim, cut down and remove trees and shrubs.
• Dig and refill ditches.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Condition walls and woodwork prior to painting.
• Conduct animal recovery, pickup and disposal tasks.
• Lifting light to moderate (up to 50 lbs) and occasionally up to 80 lbs.
• Perform minor repairs to sewers, septic tanks, catch basins and manholes.
• Drive a City vehicle not requiring a CDL.
• Wash and steam vehicles, tools and equipment in the automotive shop.

• Six (6) months of experience performing unskilled labor.
• Valid driver’s license from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class
  
  E) is required and must be maintained valid throughout employment.
• State of Florida Driver’s License (Class E or higher) is required prior to appointment.
• Eighth grade education preferred.

This position is considered an “Essential Position” for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. This position requires 24 hours a day, 7 days per week availability during City of Miami emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager, or City Officials.
