Position

Full Time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) – Bascom Palmer Eye Institute – Miami (Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $50,000)

The University of Miami/UHealth – Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Department of Anesthesiology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Responsibilities
  • Work in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other physicians and medical professionals to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures.
  • Provide care for a patient before, during, and after a medical procedure or surgery by performing a patient assessment, preparing the patient for anesthesia, and administering and maintaining the anesthesia to ensure proper sedation and pain management.
  • Oversee the patient's recovery from anesthesia and care for the patient's immediate postoperative needs.
  • Perform pre‑operative assessment of surgical patients and administer anesthesia under the direction of an anesthesiologist.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑anesthesia patient visits and document anesthesia notes in patient records.
  • Review medical history, evaluate patients, and determine proper methods of anesthesia.
  • Perform or evaluate diagnostic tests, such as radiographs (x‑rays) and electrocardiograms (EKG).
  • Measure and monitor the level and speed at which anesthesia is administered.
  • Monitor patient vital signs to ensure safety, including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, or urine output, and inform the physician of the patient’s condition during anesthesia.
  • Manage patients’ airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.
  • Prepare prescribed solutions and administer local, intravenous, spinal, or other anesthetics following specified methods and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering fluids or drugs, and using basic or advanced life support techniques.
  • Develop anesthesia care plans.
  • Adhere to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree and graduation from an accredited School of Nurse Anesthesia Program (CRNA).
  • Valid Florida CRNA License; BLS/ACLS/PALS certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience preferred.
