About the RoleThe RN will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position requires experience in preoperative nursing, intraoperative nursing, and PACU, along with strong critical thinking skills and a commitment to the highest standards of patient safety and care.
Key Responsibilities- Preoperative Care: Assess and prepare patients for surgery — reviewing medical history, obtaining vital signs, administering preoperative medications, and educating patients on their procedure
- Intraoperative Support: Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers, ensuring patient safety, proper sterile technique, and smooth workflow
- PACU: Monitor and care for patients in recovery, managing pain, IV fluids, medications, and ensuring a safe, comfortable recovery
- Patient Advocacy: Provide compassionate, individualized care that ensures a positive surgical experience
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate patient records and surgical notes in adherence to OSHA, AHCA, and Joint Commission standards
- Emergency Preparedness: Recognize and respond to adverse reactions, airway obstructions, or cardiac events using BLS/ACLS protocols
- Collaboration: Partner closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the broader care team to deliver high-quality surgical experiences
- Minimum 1 year of perioperative, PACU, or critical care nursing experience (ASC or hospital setting preferred)
- BLS & ACLS certifications required
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anesthesia effects, infection control, and patient safety protocols
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment
