** The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) delivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. The APRN also examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. May prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests. Advises patients about continuing care.

** Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
** Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Evaluates and manages care of Transplant Pulmonary patients at the Miami Transplant Institute (MTI) at Jackson Memorial Hospital. This includes history taking and physical examination, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing.

Coordinates the discharge planning and outpatient care for patients consulted, in collaboration with the Attending. Providing patient education; coordinating and conducting clinical and telephone follow-up of patients. Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
Performs Post-operative evaluation including taking a medical history and performing a physical examination, orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests and provides patient education. Provides staff education about new clinical protocols, patient management, research protocols. Develops staff competencies in cooperation with clinical managers on the patient care units.
