Description

The Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse – DPC RN is a licensed professional who demonstrates mastery of core competencies: assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organization, professional accountability, leadership, and service. The RN delivers patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent manner, promotes evidence‑based practice, and upholds quality, safety, and service standards.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing (or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
Licenses & Certifications
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Other certifications as needed: PALS, NRP, ONS‑Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card.
Additional Qualifications
  • RNs hired prior to 2/1/2012 (South), 10/1/2017 (Bethesda), 10/1/2023 (Boca), 7/1/2018 (Fishermen’s) are not required to have a BSN to continue in their non‑leadership role as an RN.
  • RNs hired after those dates with an Associate’s degree must complete a BSN within five years from hire.
  • RN must complete a preceptor class within twelve months of being deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice.
  • Pre‑certification may include ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, or ONS as department standards require.
