This role oversees a dedicated team of eight responsible for shaping and implementing a variety of robust grant programs, strengthening the nonprofit sector through year-round capacity building, maintaining consistent community presence and engagement, and overseeing special initiatives designed to be responsive to community needs. The Vice President works in close partnership with the executive leadership team to ensure all departments operate with deep community understanding and to support organization-wide leadership grounded in wisdom and context.

The ideal candidate is an innovative, highly collaborative, strategic leader with deep knowledge of and strong networks within the nonprofit community, experience in grantmaking and capacity building, and a proven track record of leading empowered teams. They bring demonstrated success in building coalitions, strengthening nonprofits, and driving impactful community initiatives.

Strategic Grantmaking: Oversee the full grant lifecycle—from strategy development and proposal submission to review, site visits, and approval—managing competitive, donor-advised, and field-of-interest funds.

Community Leadership: Represent the organization across public, private, and nonprofit sectors to identify regional needs and foster collaboration.

Leadership Programs: Manage the team overseeing the leadership development portfolio, including the Miami Fellows program (a fellowship for extraordinary rising leaders), as well as capacity-building initiatives for nonprofit leaders both during major giving campaigns and year-round at a collaborative community space.

Impact Assessment: Design and implement metrics to monitor program performance, evaluate effectiveness, and communicate impact.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or life experience
  • 15+ years of professional experience, preferably in the social sector
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, and project management tools such as Asana or Microsoft Project
  • Multilingual ability is a plus
ABILITIES

This role calls for an inspirational professional with curiosity and a desire to deeply understand the region, the challenges it faces, and the vital work underway to address them. An excellent candidate brings optimism and belief in Miami’s potential.

Strong Affinity for Organizational Values: Joy, imagination, bravery, sustainability, togetherness, equity, and leadership guide how work is approached. These values are lived daily and embedded in decision-making and strategy.

Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Elevating voices, spreading power, and increasing opportunity for all are central priorities. The Vice President of Community Investments ensures these commitments are reflected across all areas of leadership and community engagement.
