Job SummaryThe Manuf. Operations Superintendent leads the mechanic department to ensure the timely and effective repair, maintenance, and optimization of all cutting and sewing equipment. The role minimizes downtime, maintains equipment reliability, and ensures parts and supplies are stocked to support uninterrupted production. The Superintendent manages the department through training, communication, and organization, driving performance toward facility KPIs and providing hands‑on technical support and supervision to uphold operational excellence, quality standards, and safety.
Responsibilities- Supervise sewing and cutting room mechanics and oversee preventive maintenance and repair programs
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to maintain equipment in optimal condition
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors for equipment installation and improvements
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance workshop
- Collaborate with the Director of Manufacturing to set repair and maintenance priorities
- Assign and monitor mechanic tasks to ensure quality and timely completion
- Ensure mechanics meet set KPIs and departmental goals, focusing on elevating the service quality of the department
- Ensure safety and quality standards are met in all maintenance work
- Submit requisitions for new or replacement parts, supplies, and tools
- Provide hands‑on technical support for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
Directly supervises sewing and cutting room mechanics and is responsible for the execution of all preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Minimum of 10 years working in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a management position.
- Preferably proficient and knowledgeable in cutting and sewing machines, including but not limited to:
- Single & multi‑needle lockstitch, chain stitch, bar‑tack, buttonhole, felling machines, irons.
- Ongoing training in industrial equipment maintenance and technologies is required.
- Language skills:
Must read, write, and speak English fluently. Bilingual in Creole and/or Spanish preferred.
