This position can be based in Spain, the Caribbean (Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican Republic, or Aruba), or East Coast of the United States
The Head of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and implementation of nature-based initiatives globally in response to Iberostar’s needs for risk identification and reduction.
This position works closely with the Department of Climate Action and other internal teams to identify and mitigate atmospheric and environmental risks that can be addressed through nature. It ensures that ecosystem-based approaches are scientifically grounded, well‑documented, effectively implemented, and consistently reported on across projects. Furthermore, the position will manage technical workflows, support field teams, ensure data integrity and oversee a team of four NbS Coordinators.
Reporting to the Director of Nature, you will bridge the gap between scientific theory and operational reality, ensuring all ecosystem-based approaches are data-driven, effectively documented, and consistently reported.
You’ll join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to sustainability, innovation, and science-backed decision-making.
What will your day-to-day work be like?- Strategy & Implementation:
Coordinate and supervise the planning and administrative execution of global NbS projects (e.g., erosion control, reforestation, green infrastructure). Assist with coordinating workshops, training, and knowledge‑sharing sessions related to NbS. - Cross-Functional Integration:
Partner with Operations, Construction, Engineering, and Climate Action teams to embed NbS into property-level action plans. - Technical Oversight:
Review technical reports, risk assessments, and monitoring outputs to ensure compliance with internal and scientific standards. - Data & Reporting:
Manage internal databases (risk registers, baseline assessments) and contribute to ESG, TNFD, and CSRD reporting. - Team Leadership:
Supervise four NbS Coordinators, managing their technical workflows, day‑to‑day operations, and professional development. - External Management:
Oversee consultants and external partners, ensuring project timelines and quality benchmarks are met.
- Education:
University degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field. - Experience:
