ABOUT THE ROLE

Hut 8 is seeking an experienced and execution-focused Director, Construction to lead the delivery of large-scale data center developments from contract execution through project completion. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Construction, this individual will own the prime contractor engagement process – spanning commercial, legal, and technical negotiation – and oversee all aspects of active project management across Hut 8’s development portfolio.

This is a leadership role requiring deep experience in general contracting, construction operations, and high-performance project delivery. You will manage prime contractor relationships, lead bid processes, and ensure that each project is executed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and speed.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

• Lead the selection, evaluation, and bid process for prime contractors across all active and upcoming construction projects.
• Own commercial and legal negotiations under AIA agreements, coordinating with legal and finance to secure favorable contract terms.
• Conduct and lead technical interviews with prime contractors to assess delivery capability, team strength, and market fit.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for prime contractors throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Oversee on-site project execution across multiple concurrent data center developments, ensuring schedule adherence, budget control, and safety compliance.
• Direct internal and external project management functions, ensuring coordination between Hut 8, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Own end-to-end change order management, including evaluation and approval of changes originating from Hut 8, the client, subcontractors, or the prime contractor.
• Monitor construction progress, report on key milestones, and resolve issues related to cost, schedule, or scope in real-time.
• Support the transition from preconstruction into field execution, ensuring all site teams are mobilized with clear documentation and alignment.
• Drive accountability through consistent performance tracking, issue escalation, and cross-functional communication.
• Ensure construction operations are aligned with Hut 8’s standards for quality, scalability, and reliability.

ABOUT YOU

• 10+ years of experience in construction management or general contracting for large-scale data center, industrial, or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience managing prime contractor relationships and overseeing full construction life cycles.
• Deep knowledge of AIA contract structures, bid processes, and change order workflows.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent builds with consistent delivery standards.
• Familiarity with data center infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and structural systems.
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and field management skills.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities across technical and executive audiences.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to schedule, cost, and quality management.
• Proficiency in construction management tools and reporting systems (e.g., Procore, MS Project, P6).
