Job Title: Building Maintenance Assistant
Department: Facilities / Operations
Reports To: Facilities Manager or Maintenance Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Building Maintenance Assistant supports the maintenance team in ensuring that facilities, equipment, and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role performs routine maintenance tasks, assists with repairs, and helps maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with general building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks
- Perform routine inspections of facilities and report maintenance issues
- Complete minor repairs such as fixing doors, locks, drywall, lighting, and fixtures
- Assist with preventive maintenance programs
- Maintain exterior grounds, including trash removal, basic landscaping, and snow/ice removal (as needed)
- Set up and break down rooms for meetings or events
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Support special facility projects as assigned
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1+ year of maintenance or related experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
- May require occasional evening or weekend work
- Exposure to mechanical equipment and maintenance tools
- Fast-paced environment with varying daily tasks
