Responsibilities- Maintain the clean and neat appearance of all assigned areas; report problems to the supervisor, including items not listed in the responsibilities.
- Work as part of a team and follow supervisor directions; this description and the quantity of duties is subject to change at any time by the supervisor.
- Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, common rooms (party room, children’s play room, fitness center) and other work areas to meet health standards.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Carry toilet items and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.
- Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors with appropriate equipment.
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
- Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Remove debris from driveways, garages, and swimming pool areas.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, doors, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary.
- Report maintenance items (e.g., burned-out lights, leaks, broken equipment) to the Building Maintenance Department.
- Disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
- Dust window blinds.
- Observe all State, Federal, and Company safety standards/precautions to maintain a safe work environment; protect residents, guests, and property and report damage or theft as applicable.
- Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for social or business functions.
- Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to using it.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
The housekeeper performs work in a residential environment and should be able to work around chemical cleaning solutions.
Position requires exposure to outdoor climate and weather conditions.
Physical Demands- Stand for extended periods; walk and climb stairs; climb ladders; crawl in small spaces; stoop and/or kneel; lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; carry items in the work environment.
- Push cleaning equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Handle, finger, grasp, and feel objects and equipment.
- Reach with hands and arms; perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
Non-exempt position (hourly). Schedule is determined at each property/location to suit the community’s business needs and may change accordingly.
RequiredEducation and Experience
- At least one year of experience in managing and supervising a housekeeping department.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products and how to use them properly.
- Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment in a residential building (vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, cleaning cart, etc.).
- Ability to react and address emergency situations in a timely manner.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
