POSITION SUMMARY:

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of all common areas throughout the building.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Cleans common areas including (but not limited to) restrooms, conference rooms, and cafeterias

* Cleans floors and surfaces by wiping, sweeping, mopping or scrubbing as needed

* Dusts furniture, washes walls, dusts and polishes light fixtures, cleans windows and dusts blinds

* Gathers and empties trash bins/receptacles

* Follows procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power cleaning equipment to prevent damage to floors/fixtures

* Stocks and maintain supply rooms as needed

* Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects (i.e. waxing floors, shampooing carpets) as needed

* Report maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair to supervisor

JOB

SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Basic English language skills

* Attention to detail

* Able to prioritize work

* Interact effectively with employees at all organizational levels

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Minimum of 3 year janitorial experience

* Experience in commercial/institutional cleaning required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Heavy Work
- This role requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Most essential functions are performed while standing.

* Must be able to perform physical labor including: climbing, bending, stooping, twisting and other motions required in the performance of normal custodial duties.

* Visual acuity is required to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and to operate power cleaning tools.

* This role is subject to both outside and inside environmental conditions.
