A well-established Miami-based family law firm is seeking a senior Mentoring Litigation Attorney to serve as both a hands-on litigator and a trusted guide for its legal team. This role is ideal for an experienced family law attorney who enjoys not only practicing law at a high level, but also developing people, strengthening systems, and elevating the quality of work across an entire legal department.
The firm is currently composed of an all-women, bilingual legal team and places a high value on collaboration, professionalism, and cultural alignment. The right candidate will be someone who thrives in a mentorship-driven, people-forward environment and takes pride in helping others grow.
This position requires deep family law experience, strong courtroom confidence, and the ability to mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and law clerks in a way that is structured, supportive, and results-oriented.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a mentor and go-to legal resource for attorneys, paralegals, and law clerks.
- Provide guidance on strategy, case management, and issue-spotting when consulted on other attorneys’ matters.
- Support the incremental and progressive development of junior attorneys and legal staff.
- Help ensure cases move forward efficiently and that critical details do not fall through the cracks.
Litigation & Legal Practice
- Independently handle all aspects of family law matters, including complex litigation.
- Draft pleadings, conduct discovery, and manage mediations, settlement conferences, and pretrial hearings.
- Represent clients in court and handle trials independently.
- Guide clients with clear strategic direction while keeping their goals and realities front and center.
Client Experience & Business Development
- Conduct consultations and effectively convey the value of working with the firm.
- Build trust with prospective and existing clients through clarity, empathy, and expertise.
- Generate new engagements through referrals and repeat clients.
Operations & Accountability
- Stay on top of billing for assigned caseloads and work only on matters with funding unless otherwise approved.
- Leverage technology, including AI tools, to improve efficiency, profitability, and team performance.
KPIs & Performance Expectations
- Approximately 110 billed hours per month (may be adjusted to account for mentoring responsibilities).
- No billed time on cases without funding.
- Bi-monthly email updates to all assigned clients.
- At least one new engagement per quarter from a prior client or referral.
- At least one 5-star client review per quarter.
