POSITION SUMMARY

HSA is seeking a motivated Data Engineer to develop and maintain robust data workflows supporting our enterprise analytics environment. This role involves integrating and processing data from multiple sources such as healthcare records, payroll systems, and other business applications to fuel datamarts and warehouses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring data accuracy and consistency by implementing validation mechanisms and optimizing pipeline performance. Collaboration with analytics teams, infrastructure engineers, and business stakeholders is key to delivering actionable insights and driving data automation initiatives.

Candidates should bring solid experience in SQL development on Azure, building ETL/ELT processes with modern cloud tools, and hands-on expertise with Databricks platform components. Proficiency in Python and PySpark, as well as familiarity with version control and CI/CD workflows, is prominent. Prior exposure to healthcare data environments and tools like Health Catalyst Ignite is advantageous.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build, manage, configure and monitor data pipelines for enterprise data warehouse and targeted datamarts from disparate EHR, payroll and other related systems for downstream consumption
  • Build, administer and monitor data integrations between source and business systems, for example FP&R budget/planning application
  • Build, implement and monitor data quality rules and tools/processes where applicable
  • Monitor data pipelines for any errors or performance bottlenecks constantly looking towards optimizations
  • Work closely with BI team to deliver analytics, Infrastructure team advocating automation and CI/CD, and business users promoting data value and usage
  • Assist in building reporting/analytics in Power

    BI when required
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Data Engineering within healthcare industry preferred
  • College degree preferably within STEM discipline
  • Data-related certification(s) a plus
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
  • 3+ years of SQL Azure - both core SQL development and some DBA tasks including query optimization, statistics/index maintenance, etc.
  • 3+ years of ETL/ELT development with tools such as Azure Data Factory, Fivetran retrieving and transforming data from RDBMS systems, files and RESTful APIs
  • 1+ years of Databricks including Databricks SQL, Notebook development, Delta Lake/Lakehouse storage, Unity Catalog, medallion architecture
  • 1+ years of Python and Pyspark
  • 1+ years with source control, CI/CD and environment management
  • Experience building reporting/analytics in Power

    BI preferred
  • Experience with Health Catalyst Ignite platform a plus
