The Nursing Department at the Bruce W Carter Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is looking to fill a Medical Instrument Technician (Gastroenterology) position located at the Miami VA Healthcare System in Miami, Florida.

The Medical Instrument Technician (GI) operates highly complex equipment that requires knowledge and proficiency to operate and maintain. The incumbent will serve as medical administrative support and will coordinate all administrative and clinical duties for the delivery of high quality gastroenterology care during tests and procedures. Medical Instrument Technician Gastroenterology (GI) Technicians assist the practitioner in endoscopic procedures, such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and endoscopic ultrasound.

The technicians ensure proper performance of equipment, set up equipment, and reprocess endoscopic reusable medical equipment (RME).

The duties of this occupation include but are not limited to the following:

• Operate highly complex equipment required for gastroenterology procedures and patient care.
• Provide medical administrative support and coordinate administrative and clinical duties for gastroenterology services.
• Assist practitioners in endoscopic procedures, including EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, and endoscopic ultrasound.
