Overview
Health Records Analyst assembles medical records according to the hospital's chart order. Tags all deficiencies found in the medical record for physician completion. Performs other clerical support duties. Maintains confidentiality of patient medical records.
Responsibilities- Assembles and analyzes six inpatient charts per hour.
- Processes twelve outpatient ambulatory surgery records per hour to include assembly, analysis, creating the folder, attaching all dictated reports and filing records.
- Assembles and analyzes medical records within 72 hours of discharge at Jackson South Community Hospital and within 7 days at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
- Files loose reports within 24-72 hours of receipt by the department.
- Abstracts inpatient records as needed.
- Process outpatient ambulatory surgery records within 72 hours of date of receipt.
- Files on half-inch of loose work per hour. Responds to telephone requests.
- Retrieves records for physicians.
- Assists physicians with chart completion.
- Sends physician reminder letters to complete records.
- Prepares physician suspension list monthly.
- Assists with medical record review function.
- Processes and completes Birth Certificates as needed.
- At completion of other assigned duties, reports to the Director/Supervisor for additional duties.

- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
- Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
- High School diploma is required.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.
- Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
