Lead Patient Access Associate – BHMG Cardiology – Office V

Exemplary teamwork, service, and comprehensive knowledge of Baptist Health System’s Revenue Cycle from a Patient Access perspective are essential. The incumbent will serve as a preceptor for new hires, coordinate patient flow, process admissions timely, and maintain current practices to address patient questions or concerns. The role serves as a Patient Access resource and assumes a leadership position in the absence of a Manager/Supervisor.
Responsibilities include maintaining insurance requirements knowledge, BHSF pricing, financial assistance options, and supporting departmental initiatives, committee participation, and go-live support.
Degrees:
- High School Diploma, Certificate of Attendance, Certificate of Completion, GED, or equivalent training or experience required.
- For internal staff: minimum 2 years of Patient Access experience.
- Meets/exceeds Bishop Health System registration accuracy and productivity standards for the most recent 12 months.
- Exceeds departmental KPIs.
- Maintains a positive attitude, self-motivated, and encourages others.
- Cross-trained in multiple areas to substitute all staff positions as needed.
- For external staff:
Associate’s Degree preferred with 2 years of Patient Access experience, or 3 years of Patient Access/Leadership experience in lieu of a degree. - Complete and successfully pass the Patient Access training course.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Desired:
Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines (HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, Medicare coverage structure and medical necessity compliance). - Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations, pre-certifications, Microsoft Office products, and EMR applications.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole preferred.
