Certified Pharmacy Technician

Base pay range

$17.50/hr - $21.00/hr

• Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in performing other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, processes prescriptions, and enters information correctly.
• If PTCB certified, assists and coaches pharmacy technicians in operating pharmacy systems and cashiers in operating pharmacy cash registers.
• Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

• Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
• Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.

• Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Reports prescription errors to pharmacist and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors.
• Adheres to Good Faith Dispensing policy during all prescription dispensing activities.
• Registers all related sales on assigned cash register, handles cash, and assists in locating OTC products.
• Handles telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
• Processes manual claims for third‑party program prescription services efficiently.
• Supports inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
• Assists in administering clinical services such as collection and labeling of blood/urine samples.
• Assists in developing relationships with local medical community and external providers.
• Maintains pharmacy department appearance and supplies.
• Maintains respectful relationships with coworkers and completes special assignments.

• Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program or other required certification.
• Attends training, completes PPLs, and acquires continuing education credits.
• Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English, except in Puerto Rico.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Six months of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens preferred.
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Good computer skills preferred.
• Knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
• PTCB certification preferred.
