Patient Services Representative II (PSR II)
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life‑defining health decisions.
The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
The PSR II has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner.
The PSR II will demonstrate Leadership Behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy to patient information.
Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center or as business needs dictate.
Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
Maintain a safe and professional environment.
Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection, processing duties following established practices and procedures.
Perform verification of patient demographic info / initials including patient signature post‑venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
Maintain required records and documentation.
Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees and the public in general.
Responsibilities- Draw high‑quality blood samples and prepare specimens for lab testing.
- Explain procedures to patients and create a trusting atmosphere.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and focus on process excellence.
- Assist as needed in a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other assigned locations.
- Perform tasks accurately and on time under supervision.
- Maintain a safe, professional environment.
- Collect and process forensic and clinical specimens following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographics and signatures post‑venipuncture.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Promote a positive company image.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to produce quality, error‑free work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Work independently with minimal on‑site supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
- Handle multiple priorities in a high‑volume setting.
- Superior customer focus and communication skills.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, WA).
- Three years phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections.
- Minimum two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service settings preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
- Floaters must travel between multiple sites and be on time.
- Clean driving record.
- Flexibility for availability between 6 am–4 pm, depending on site.
Healthcare Insurance: Eligible employees and dependents receive coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. Eligibility begins on the 1st day of the calendar month following 60 days of continuous full‑time employment.
Dental Insurance: Eligible employees and dependents receive a plan through Met Life. Eligibility follows the same 60‑day rule.
Vision Insurance: Vision coverage through VSP, with eligibility beginning after 60 days.
401(k) Plan: Participation for employees age 21+. Enrollment available at quarter‑year intervals.
Technical Certification Bonus: Up to $500 for approved professional certifications related to the position, awarded 90 days after documentation is received. One per calendar year. Only active employees eligible.
