Job Summary

This professional position is responsible for providing STD/HIV health education programs that help individuals, families, and communities maximize and maintain healthy lifestyles. The Senior Health Educator collects and analyzes data to identify community needs, plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles. This position reports to a Health Education Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and deliver comprehensive STD/HIV prevention education programs and interventions strategies aligned with CDC programs.
  • Collect, analyze data, prepare needs assessments, statistical charts, and health promotion materials to support program implementation.
  • Support community mobilization initiatives; coordinate community engagement and youth health community mobilization workgroup activities.
  • Collaborate with Florida Department of Health programmatic staff and local agencies to assess health needs, develop goals, and provide guidance on STD/HIV services.
  • Coordinate health needs assessments, public health surveys, and present training workshops, conferences, and community presentations.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of program activities, data entry, and submit monthly reports.
  • Assist with office related activities, participate in state health department activities, and support business and community recruitment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of methods for compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Education and Training: knowledge of curriculum and training design, instruction for groups, and measurement of training effects.
  • Customer and Personal Service: principles and processes for providing customer service, needs assessment, and evaluation of satisfaction.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to convey information effectively.
  • Strong reading comprehension for technical and written materials.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to conduct work-related assignments.
  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Preferred: bilingual in English and either Creole or Spanish.
