The UHealth System at the University of Miami seeks a Full Time Research Pharmacist for the Investigational Drug Services (IDS) Pharmacy. The IDS Pharmacist will provide and oversee pharmacotherapy for research patients and support clinical trials conducted by the University of Miami.
Core Job Functions- Monitors and supervises the operation of the intravenous admixture program, with a heavy emphasis on the preparation and monitoring of chemotherapeutic and investigational intravenous therapies.
- Ensures the accurate and efficient preparation and delivery of injectable chemotherapy and other medications for intravenous therapy.
- Determines dosage amounts and intravenous compatibilities, reviews patient profiles and new orders to prevent drug interactions and contraindications.
- Trains and supervises technical staff members, residents and interns in established policies and procedures for hospital, clinic, and department operations.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable governmental and sponsor regulations, laws, and policies.
- Manages the preparation and review of investigational drug products and clinical drug protocols.
- Educates research and pharmacy staff on investigational agents, drug protocols, IP administration and handling, and related clinical monitoring.
- Provides medication counseling and assesses medication regimen adherence for patients receiving investigational medications.
- Participates in the reporting of unanticipated problems, adverse events, and clinical protocol deviations.
- Assists with marketing research activities to aid in new product development.
- Serves as a resource to the public, healthcare professionals, and investigators in the development of investigator‑initiated studies, including preparation of pharmacy manuals.
- Assists with the development of IDS pharmacy policies and procedures and maintains professional competency sufficient to meet the clinical needs of the IDS department, human subjects research office, and the University.
- Collects and documents workload measurement statistics; provides other data and reports, including incident reports, adverse drug reaction reports, corrective action plans, etc.
- Oversees the maintenance of accurate investigational drug records, including documentation of ordering, receipt, inventory, and maintenance.
- Performs clinical medication order review and verification of computerized physician order entry for investigational and standard‑of‑care medications.
- Oversees and instructs pharmacy learners (pharmacy students and residents) as it relates to clinical research pharmaceutical services.
- Adheres to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- Pharm.
D. degree - Florida licensed pharmacist
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
