The APRN Inpatient provides primary, acute and specialty healthcare services autonomously and in partnership with other healthcare professionals, in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Responsibilities include managing patient overall care, prescribing medications and treatments, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosing and treating chronic and acute conditions, performing invasive procedures, counseling, and educating patients on positive health‑promoting choices and prevention of disease, injury, and illness.
ResponsibilitiesUses clinical judgments in health assessments, differential diagnosis, and treatment prescriptions. Implements plans through independent action, health counseling, and collaboration with other members of the health team. Provides clinical oversight and health center consultation regarding health care policy and procedure. Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures, orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests, maintains detailed medical records, and provides written home‑going instructions.
Collaborates with other specialties and physicians for interdisciplinary management and continuity of care. Prescribes medications or other therapeutic procedures, refers patients for specialized resources, and educates nursing staff on best practices. Conducts unit‑specific duties such as approving time off, coordinating tracking board, onboarding fellows, leading staff huddle, reviewing case delays, and participating in PI projects.
Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience. Units at BHH require 1 year of experience.
EducationMaster's degree in Nursing is required.

Valid Florida Advanced Practice RN license required. Valid APRN Board certification in specialty area required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification required upon hire with at least 6 months validity. Must maintain all unit‑specific and organizational certifications.
