Performs manual and automated routine blood tests; prepares specimens for microscope examination; operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of tasks; a certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to supervisor or manager.

Requires graduation from an accredited MLT program and passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Performs analysis of body fluids and exudates; performs various chemical procedures on specimens using several laboratory equipment; performs quality control procedures, linearities, instrument checks and maintenance of instruments; records workload and other statistics; calculates and tabulates results and makes reports of observations; post tests findings.

Generalist position with emphasis on Microbiology and rotations through blood bank, chemistry, coagulation, hematology, and urinalysis. 3 months experience preferred; position is 3 shifts per week; rotating holidays and weekends.

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Bachelor of Science with a chemical, physical, or biologic science as a major subject and minimum one year training in a clinical laboratory; or associate in arts in Medical Laboratory Science with a full semester of hospital training.
• Minimum 1 year in hospital experience preferred in the field.

• Current Florida license as a Medical Technologist in all specialties.

• Knowledge and understanding of the Laboratory workflow.
