CT Scan Technologist is responsible for operating advanced imaging equipment and completing specialized diagnostic studies in close partnership with physicians. They ensure quality and safety under supervisory review.
Responsibilities- Operate complex x‑ray equipment and perform diagnostic procedures.
- Conduct dynamic and specialized scans (head, chest, spine, abdomen, extremities) using appropriate windows and levels.
- Perform biopsy drainage studies and prepare sterile fields.
- Provide radiation protection following prescribed safety standards.
- Take scout views and inject contrast when approved by the radiologist.
- Follow protocol for computer start‑up, shut‑down, and data entry into the HIS system.
- Verify patient identification, allergies, and laboratory results prior to scans.
- Communicate with patients and convey procedure expectations.
- Maintain immobilization devices and assist with contrast administration.
- Develop films, adjust automatic processing equipment, and complete laboratory records.
- Report equipment malfunctions and maintain downtime logs.
- Comply with all safety and procedural regulations.
- Attend in‑service training, advanced equipment usage sessions, and CQI meetings.
- Perform life‑support measures as necessary; CPR and BLS certification required.
- Provide holiday coverage as required.
- Perform all related duties as assigned.
0 to 3 years of related experience.
EducationGraduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program with additional CT training required.
Skills- Organize, prioritize, and meet multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Handle stressful situations with critical thinking and professionalism.
- Follow instructions and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency with job‑specific technology and applications.
- Maintain current certifications, logs, and competencies as required.
- Valid Florida State license as a Radiology Technologist.
- ARRT certification requirements vary by hire date (see policy).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent with at least 6 months validity.
- Additional applicable life‑support certifications for Healthcare Providers.
FL‑BLS
Working Conditions- Physical Requirements: Extended standing or walking; lift objects up to 100 lbs with appropriate devices; maintain visual acuity for prolonged computer use.
- Environmental Conditions: Fast‑paced environment with occasional high‑pressure or emergent situations; interaction with diverse populations; exposure to communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and other hazards; use of PPE required.
