Job Summary

Performs Long Term Video-EEG monitoring on patients with scalp or intra-cranially placed electrodes. Operates intra-operative monitoring with subdural and depth electrodes. Performs special studies such as Functional Brain Mapping (cortical stimulation) and SPECT. Follows the "Guidelines for EEG and Long Term Neuro-diagnostic Monitoring in Epilepsy" set by the American Society of Electro-neuro-diagnostic Technologists.

Specific Duties
  • Participates in conferences, technical meetings, and educational activities.
  • Conducts Functional Brain Simulation and Mapping, SPECT Studies, ECS recordings, and other specialized studies.
  • Maintains all operating room equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Obtains clinical history, explains procedures to patients and families.
  • Performs data retrieval, reduction, and analysis for interpretation by physicians.
  • Performs EEGs when necessary.
  • Performs Electrocorticography during subdural electrode implantation in the operating room.
  • Performs Long Term Video-EEG Monitoring in the Seizure Unit, demonstrating proficiency in the International 10-20 system.
  • Performs Subdural LTM recording and maintains system integrity.
Qualifications Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Electro-neuro-diagnostic Technology program or equivalent training.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification, maintained active.
  • 2-4 years EEG Technician experience or 1 year with ABRET registration.
  • Special training in EEG equipment operation and data management.

  • ABRET certification preferred.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to relate well with patients, families, and team members.
  • Calm problem-solving under stress.
  • Willingness to learn new procedures.
