The Chemistry Department is currently seeking a Temporary Lab Technician to join their team of professionals.
Duties Include- Perform routine molecular biology tasks, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, and preparation of reagents and buffers.
- Support forensic genomics and epigenetics workflows such as STR analysis, methylation assays, and sequencing library preparation.
- Maintain laboratory organization, inventory, and equipment, ensuring proper cleaning, calibration, and routine maintenance.
- Receive, label, and manage biological samples while maintaining accurate documentation, chain‑of‑custody, and electronic records.
- Assist with data collection and basic analysis, including QC assessments and preparation of summary reports.
- Follow all FIU safety, biosafety, and compliance procedures and help ensure a safe, well‑functioning laboratory environment.
High school diploma and two (2) years of appropriate experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or any related field.
