Radiologic Technologist 3 at University of Miami
OverviewFull‑time position within the Department of Executive Medicine. The incumbent performs complex procedures in radiology, operating radiographic equipment to obtain high‑quality diagnostic images while ensuring radiation safety. The role includes overseeing designated areas, guiding other technologists, and providing education and training to new staff.
Responsibilities- Assist Radiologists and PhDs in developing new protocols and unique imaging techniques, and educate new physicians.
- Monitor charge capture of radiologic procedures and supplies to ensure accuracy.
- Demonstrate radiologic equipment for site visits by physicians and administrators.
- Obtain and examine orders for radiologic scans, verifying patient information and special notes.
- Ensure orders are appropriate for the exam requested; notify supervisors of discrepancies and correct orders.
- Verify patient identity and establish rapport with patients and other stakeholders.
- Perform complex specialized tasks using radiologic scanners, following radiation safety procedures under Radiologist supervision.
- Integrate diagnostic, laboratory, patient history, and medical records, adapting exams as needed and adhering to protocols.
- Maintain aseptic technique using universal precautions (hand washing, gloves, gown, mask, eye protection, and equipment disinfection).
- Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, IV placement, and contrast injection when applicable; evaluate scans for technical quality and appropriately label images.
- Orient and train new radiologic technologists and student technologists.
- Apply physical developmental care to patients as documented, using competency validation checklists.
- Provide life‑support measures during scanning as necessary; assist in Code Blue and perform CPR as required.
- Adhere to University and unit‑level policies and protect University assets.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology/Diagnostic Imaging program.
- CPR and BLS certifications required.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in maintaining interpersonal relationships, data organization and analysis, problem solving, critical decision making, and effective communication in oral and written forms.
- $10,000 Sign On Bonus.
