Responsibilities- Interview applicants to obtain and verify information needed to determine eligibility for Food Assistance, Medicaid, and Cash Assistance.
- Learn state and federal program regulations through intensive training and ongoing education.
- Instruct clients in completion of application forms and review for completeness and accuracy.
- Determine program eligibility in accordance with current regulations using a computer‑based eligibility system.
- Research applicant information until eligibility status is confirmed.
- Report cases where identity theft or fraud is suspected.
- Advise clients of deadlines, time frames, and required actions.
- Work with clients who may not take required actions within the required time frame.
- Maintain electronic files and conduct regular reviews and updates.
- Document all communications and contacts with clients.
- Manage an electronic caseload, ensuring accuracy and processing within specified time frames.
- Compute and authorize government assistance benefits based on financial and family status and explain monthly benefit amount to the customer.
- Stay current with changes in rules, laws, procedures, etc.
- Face‑to‑face contact with clients may be required.
- Two years or more of customer service, interviewing, recruiting, investigating, accounting, processing insurance policies, or determining eligibility; OR associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; OR 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours can substitute.
- Ability to attend an 8‑12 week mandatory training course.
- Eligible candidates required to complete a skills assessment (typing, GAME, EPP). Assessment must be completed within 3 days of link sent.
- Typing test: minimum 25 words per minute.
- General Aptitude Mobile Evaluation (GAME).
- Employee Personality Profile (EPP).
- Telework eligibility may be available after 9 months employment, training completed, and performance expectations met.
- Language proficiency may be considered.
- Incumbents may be expected to work during emergencies or natural disasters.
- Apply laws, rules, and regulations governing eligibility for multiple assistance programs.
- Review images and documents for eligibility determinations.
- Communicate with clients to obtain and verify eligibility information.
- Detect and evaluate potential fraudulent situations.
- Analyze written, numerical, and verbal data from various sources.
- Enter data accurately into a computerized system.
- Navigate computer screens and complete basic computer documents.
- Plan and organize caseload to meet regulatory timeliness.
- Read, understand, and apply detailed regulations and policy directives.
- Perform mathematical computations accurately and rapidly.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the public and staff.
- Use computers and related software packages.
- Follow written and oral directions.
- Include supervisor names and phone numbers for all periods of employment.
- Explain any gaps in employment.
- Provide verifiable experience, education, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
