Overview
A private investment manager specializing in short-term, senior-secured commercial real estate lending is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee fund accounting operations and manage key tax-related processes. This role supports a growing platform that structures and invests in diversified loan portfolios designed to provide consistent yield and downside protection across market cycles.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, hands-on fund accounting experience, and a solid grounding in tax accounting. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with direct exposure to investment, finance, and executive teams.
Responsibilities- Fund Accounting & Reporting:
Manage all aspects of fund accounting, including NAV calculations, capital account maintenance, investor allocations, and performance reporting. - Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, with a focus on investment company and fair-value accounting standards.
- Oversee loan-level accounting for diversified portfolios of short-term, senior-secured commercial real estate loans.
- Coordinate with third-party fund administrators, auditors, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
- Partner with external tax advisors to prepare annual tax filings, including partnership returns, K-1 reporting, and federal/state compliance.
- Analyze and review tax positions, allocations, and impacts across investment vehicles.
- Assist with tax planning strategies and structuring discussions related to new funds and investment products.
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support a growing investment platform.
- Support treasury operations, including capital calls, distributions, loan funding, and cash management activities.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects, financial modeling, and investor or regulatory reporting requests as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 5-7+ years of accounting experience
, including fund accounting within private equity, private credit, real estate, or investment management. - Strong tax accounting background, ideally with experience in partnership taxation.
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, investment company accounting, and fair-value measurement.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel; experience with fund administration platforms is a plus.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with strong attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
