Senior Investment Counselor

Overview

As the Senior Investment Counselor, you will be responsible for preparing and implementing investment strategies for clients, based on thorough analysis of their existing wealth, portfolios and their risk appetite, in accordance to relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.

• Work with Relationship Managers on tagging or assigned accounts, and responsible for developing bespoke investment solutions by translating high level house views into individual class investment ideas in Equity, Fixed Income, FX, Structured products and Alternative Investments and also trade execution.
• Responsible for Direct Access Advisory (DAA) service upon business needs.
• Work alongside Relationship Managers to attend client meetings to support acquisition of new prospects, and increase AUM of existing clients.
• Conduct portfolio reviews and suggest any trade or rebalancing activities that could help our client to achieve performances objectives or manage their risks better.
• Support sales efforts from our sales and product specialists team during RFP, sales meetings or sessions with existing clients or partners.
• Working with ISP team and within RBC internal policies to generate ideas consistent with RBC research or approved research providers.
• Contribute to a sharing culture of investment knowledge and expertise in with internal sales force.
• Support promotion of full range of RBC products and solutions e.g. discretionary portfolio mandates.
• Actively contribute towards the growth and retention of the Banks AUM.
• Adhere to Banks policies and procedures thereby protecting the business from financial and reputational risk, by acting as a key escalating point in such cases.
• Co-ordinate with different teams to enhance the productivity and advance the governance.

• University degree in Finance, Economics or other relevant professional qualifications, preferably with CFA and CPWP designation
• At least 10 years of experience as an Investment Advisor or Investment Counsellor within private banks, wealth management or investment product industry.
• Strong knowledge and experience in advising and promoting traditional and alternative investments to HNWIs and UHNWIs.
• Good understanding and prior experience wealth management business is highly desirable.
• Well versed with multi-asset classes of investment products but with specialized focus in FX advisory.
• Solid investment advisory, portfolio and risk management knowledge.
• Sound knowledge of applicable regulatory and compliance requirements on investment advisory products.
• Strong appetite for selling and client facing exercises.
• Strong investment presentation skills.
• Type 1 and 4 licenses required for HK SFC regulated activities.
• Ability to operate independently, motivated and willing to deliver high quality.
• Language:
  Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English.

• Certified ECF qualification is preferred.
