Segrera Associates is working with a private equity firm that is looking to hire a Senior Fund Accountant. The firm manages multiple investment vehicles and is supported by a lean, collaborative finance team. The Senior Fund Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day fund accounting and financial reporting for multiple private equity funds and related investment vehicles. This role will work closely with the Controller, CFO, and third-party service providers to ensure timely closes, accurate NAVs, and high-quality investor reporting.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of private equity fund structures, capital activity, and GAAP, and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain general ledger and perform monthly and quarterly closes for private equity funds, SPVs, and management company entities
- Calculate and review fund-level NAVs in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Record and reconcile capital calls, distributions, management fees, carried interest, and fund expenses
- Track partner capital accounts and investment-level activity
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements for funds, including footnotes
- Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors
- Assist with ASC 820 fair value reporting and valuation support in coordination with investment teams
- Prepare and review investor capital statements, IRR calculations, and waterfall models
- Support LP reporting, including quarterly reports, notices, and ad hoc investor requests
- Assist with fund formation and onboarding of new investors
- Ensure compliance with fund governing documents (LPAs), side letters, and internal controls
- Support regulatory filings as applicable (e.g., Form PF, AIFMD support, state filings)
- Assist with tax reporting coordination, including K-1 support and data provided to tax advisors
- Identify and implement process improvements related to fund accounting, reporting, and systems
- Manage relationships with third-party administrators, valuation firms, and tax providers
- Support fund accounting systems and data integrity Allue/Alta Retrun and Quick Books experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required)
- 3+ years of experience in private equity, hedge fund, or alternative investment accounting
- Strong understanding of private equity fund structures, capital activity, and waterfall calculations
- Experience working with fund administrators and auditors
- Proficiency with fund accounting systems and Excel
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
