the work you will do:

traffic specialist iv-safety, district six traffic operations

this position directly contributes to the department’s mission towards our target zero goal. Our mission is to continually improve the safety of florida's traveling public and fdot employees by reducing transportation related fatalities and severe injury crashes to zero. This position investigates location specific and conducts systemic safety analyses to identify safety improvement needs and design countermeasures to reduce the frequency and severity of crashes.

In addition, it also collaborates with education, enforcement, and emergency services to increase the effectiveness of our engineering efforts. Lastly, it works with communities to identify and help resolve traffic safety concerns.

a competitive area differential (cad) additive in the amount of $1976.00 will be added to the annual salary.

your specific responsibilities:

develop and review engineering reports and studies. This includes preparing and disseminating the strategic highway safety plan (shsp) tracking reports, study documentation and presentation of findings and conclusions, analysis of engineering data, and coordination of resources necessary to produce reports.

develop and manage professional and contractual service contracts, and other types of agreements, that support traffic operations. This includes project management responsibilities associated with procuring contracts, issuing task work orders, reviewing contract deliverables, reviewing and processing invoices, coordinating department personnel and other agencies associated with work under the contract, preparing contract correspondence, maintaining project files, and actively participating in project meetings.
